This week I am meditating on Jehovah Nissi; The Lord Our Banner. Let's read Exodus 17 with a focus on 17:15-16:
“And Moses built an altar and called the name of it, The LORD Is My Banner, saying, “A hand upon the throne of the LORD! The LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”
Questions to ponder:
Q1: What is a banner and what is its function?
Q2: How have you seen the Lord fight for you recently?
Q3: Is there a fight you need help fighting? If so, will you invite the help of the Lord and receive it (in whatever form it is given)?
I invite you to listen to these songs sometime this week. Urban Doxology x Fights For Me and Rita Springer x Defender
I pray the Spirit of the living God would fill you and remind you that the battle is not yours (Exodus 14:14). Vengeance is not for you to take, but the Lord (Romans 12:19).
Let’s pray,
Father I thank you for being my defender and my banner. I thank you for going before me, and remaining with me. I ask that this week You would help me to let my defenses down, and to trust you. When I feel under attack, I shall call on Jehovah Nissi, and allow you to be my defender. In my weakness your strength is made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9). I ask for your help Lord. I ask that you would help me to surrender to the change you want to do in me. You are trustworthy and you love me, for this I say thank you.
Amen
