Whatever you are doing Lord, please don't do it without me.
"Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." – Isaiah 43:18-19
I have recently found myself in a constant state of overwhelm. How am I choosing to surrender? Up until a day or two ago, I wasn't. In a moment of what felt like intense questioning, the Holy Spirit had me contemplate this, what will it take? Feeling as though I have been in a desert place, in the middle of something but unable to name it. In scripture there are passages about the wilderness and the desert. Moses and the Israelites, John the Baptist, and Jesus Christ himself was in the wilderness. What happens in the wilderness? An invitation for a deeper closeness to Christ. An invitation for total surrender. An invitation for lament. An invitation for change. An invitation for consecration.
It does not have to be a desolate place in that all things are lacking. Maybe all that has been comforting or all distractions are taken away in the wilderness, in the desert places. What a beautiful thing, for the Holy of Holies to desire to be with us so much that He takes everything else away? This is not punishment, it is an honor. Thank you Sovereign Lord.
The great Creator does a new thing, I want to perceive it. What new thing(s) might I Am be doing in your life? Do you perceive it?
