The scripture I am meditating on this week & questions to engage with it. May we be blessed and transformed by the word of the Lord.

Scripture: Isaiah 53:7 NKJV

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.

Question(s):

Q1: Who is He?

Q2: What is oppression? What is Affliction? How do they differ?

Q3: What am I to glean from this?

Want to go deeper? — What is the process of lambs going to be slaughtered and sheep going before shearers? Why does this matter and how does it effect the meaning of the text?

Let’s pray:

Lord, thank you for scripture. Thank you that all scripture is God breathed and profitable. I pray and ask that as I meditate on this scripture this week, you would open my eyes to see, that you would open my ears to hear and my spirit to receive. In your son’s name, amen.
