Stay the Course
Let your eyes look directly forward,
and your gaze be straight before you.
Keep straight the path of your feet,
and all your ways will be sure.
Do not swerve to the right or to the left;
turn your foot away from evil. Proverbs 4:25
Occasionally I find it hard to show my faith in front of those around me. I know there will be questions and if I am honest, I do not always have answers and that is what makes it hard.
A year ago, I was in prayer and I felt the Lord gave me very specific instructions; which were for me to leave my current job in a year and wait for Him to provide another job opportunity, and I decided I would act in faith and follow. Since then, my faith and trust in the Lord has grown, but not without testing! I have had conversations with family members about what came up and the questions came like a flood. I instantly thought I should not have said anything. I was only able to answer "I am trusting the Lord for the rest", this answer only led to more questions and their doubts were expressed.
I felt small and began to question what I felt I heard, but the Lord conformed what He spoke and silenced my doubts. The questions still came and my answers remained the same. I decided the only thing I could hold onto was the word from the Lord and I needed to be confident with what he said to me. I also realized, the Lord does not always give all the details! He speaks and says only what we can handle at the time, this helped me remain confident even in my own mind when things around me said what He spoke could not come to pass.
I decided to stay the course. To follow the Lord and the path He set before me. Some people still question what I heard and the chances of it happening and my plans; and I wrestle from time-to-time with speaking confidently. Thankfully the Lord knows I will be tested and others will have questions but His main concern is if I will stay the course and let His voice be my guide or if I will be swayed by those around me.
My encouragement is for you to stay the course! If there is something the Lord has spoken to you or something you are hoping for, stay the course no matter what! It is okay to get knocked down by questions and doubts, as long as you get back up with confidence in God.
As you read this, I pray it would rest in your heart and settle in your mind as truth: The Lord speaks to me and the Lord trusts me. His plans for me will come to pass. I have the faith and confidence to walk on the path paved, I need only to stay the course and put my trust in Him!
I will leave us with a prayer,
Father I thank you for your goodness and your grace towards me. I thank you that you have created a path for me and I need only to walk it. I pray that as you speak and show me things, I would rest in confidence that you are with me. I also pray that I would be able to look at the doubt in my own life and the doubt others may give, with confidence that you have spoken and will not let your word return void. I thank you for giving me the strength to stay the course no matter what.
In your son Jesus' name, amen
